
Uzbekistan’s Statistics Agency Reports Main Causes of Death

The Uzbekistan Statistics Agency has reported that last year, more than 172,800 deaths were recorded in the country. Of those, around 95,000 were men and 77,800 were women. Additionally, 93,600 deaths occurred in urban areas while 79,200 occurred in rural areas.
It was also noted that 8.8% of the deceased individuals were younger than working age, 24.6% were of working age, and 66.6% were older than working age. The majority of deaths, 61.1%, were caused by diseases of the circulatory system.
Other leading causes of death included 10.8% due to tumors, 5.5% from diseases of the respiratory organs, 4.8% from circulatory system diseases, 4.1% from infectious and parasitic diseases, and 1.3% from diseases of the digestive organs. Additionally, 12.4% of deaths were attributed to other diseases, while 4.8% were caused by accidents, poisoning, and injuries.
The region with the highest number of recorded deaths was Samarkand, with 19,388, followed by Fergana (18,658), Kashkadarya (16,424), Andijan (15,877), Tashkent (15,537), and the city of Tashkent (15,616). These statistics provide valuable insight into the prevalence of different causes of death and can inform public health efforts in Uzbekistan.
