Uzbekistan’s Total Cash Inflows Jump 26% to 840 trillion UZS

The Central Bank of Uzbekistan has recently published a summary of cash circulation for the year 2024. According to the report, the Central Bank bridged the gap between cash inflows to banks and the demand for cash by issuing an additional 10.3 trillion UZS into circulation.
As of January 1, 2025, the percentage of cash in the total money supply decreased by 2.3 points compared to the previous year, reaching 19.2%. The issuance of new cash in updated denominations resulted in a total increase of 152 million banknotes throughout the year.
Despite the lack of significant changes in the sources of cash inflows and purposes of cash withdrawals from banks, the total volume of cash increased due to a 17% rise in cash circulation compared to the previous year. This increase was driven by higher household incomes and purchasing power.
In 2024, the total cash inflows, including cash and terminal receipts, amounted to 840 trillion UZS, representing a 26% increase from the previous year. Overall, the year saw steady cash circulation with an increase in total cash volume and nominal value.
