Jakhongir Obidjonov Takes the Helm as Chairman of Uzenergosotish JSC

Jakhongir Obidjonov has been appointed as the chairman of the board of Uzenergosotish JSC, according to a statement from the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan. Alongside him, Shokhrukh Karabayev has been appointed as the acting first deputy chairman of the board.

Jakhongir Obidjonov, born in 1976 in Tashkent, is a distinguished graduate of the Tashkent State Economic University and the Academy of State and Public Construction under the President. He brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having served as the First Deputy Chairman of the Board of Regional Electric Networks JSC from 2020 to 2022.

Shokhrukh Karabayev, the newly appointed acting first deputy chairman of the board of Uzenergosotish JSC, previously held the position of deputy director of the Project Office for Reforming the Electric Power Industry under the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Uzenergosotish was established through a presidential decree aimed at furthering the reform of the energy sector in Uzbekistan. As of July 1, 2024, the company will assume responsibility for the centralized purchase and sale of electricity, while the operation of main power grids will be overseen by National Electric Grids.

With Jakhongir Obidjonov at the helm, Uzenergosotish is poised to play a crucial role in the ongoing development and modernization of the energy sector in Uzbekistan.
