80th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War Commemorated in Naryn City

Ceremonial events marking the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War took place in Naryn city, as reported by the press service of the Office of the Presidential Plenipotentiary Representative in the region.
The commemoration began with a solemn wreath-laying ceremony at the memorial located in Tien Shan Park. Attendees honored the fallen with a moment of silence, accompanied by the recitation of the Quran. This was followed by the Immortal Regiment march, a powerful tribute to those who sacrificed their lives during the war.
The military-technical parade showcased the strength of the region’s security forces, officially opened by Lieutenant Colonel Kiyalbek Kozubekov, the commander of the Naryn garrison. Personnel from various security units participated, reflecting the unity and pride of the community.
Throughout the war years, 1,826 individuals were evacuated to the Naryn region, where they were provided with housing and employment. A staggering total of 18,146 residents from Naryn answered the call to serve, with 8,919 of them either killed or missing in action.
The event also included a vibrant concert program, alongside an exhibition that featured archival wartime letters, documents, newspapers, and poignant drawings by schoolchildren that depicted life during the tumultuous war years.
These commemorative activities served not only to honor those who fought valiantly but also to reinforce the spirit of remembrance and solidarity within the community.
