Visit to Nursery No.1 and Orphanage No.1 by First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva and Vice-President Leyla Aliyeva
First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva and Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva recently visited Nursery No.1 and Orphanage No. 1 in Baku.
At Nursery No.1, which currently cares for 63 children under the age of three, the First Lady and Leyla Aliyeva have been actively involved in providing care and attention to the children. The Heydar Aliyev Foundation led the renovation of the nursery’s building, which was originally constructed in 1930, and the facility was reopened in 2015 with the support of First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva.
Following their visit to the nursery, Mehriban Aliyeva and Leyla Aliyeva visited Orphanage No. 1, where they regularly celebrate holidays with the 100 children between the ages of 3 and 18 who reside there. The facility offers resources for education, sports, and healthcare, and the Heydar Aliyev Foundation has been instrumental in supporting the residents’ access to higher education, employment opportunities, and professional skills development.
The First Lady and Leyla Aliyeva were warmly welcomed by the residents of Orphanage No. 1, who prepared a program of poems, songs, and literary performances for their esteemed guests. The Heydar Aliyev Foundation has played a significant role in the development and support of this institution, ensuring the well-being and future opportunities for the children who call it home.
In 2017, two residents of the orphanage even got married, with the Heydar Aliyev Foundation organizing their wedding and generously gifting them an apartment and a car. The ongoing commitment and care shown by First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva and Leyla Aliyeva reflect the foundation’s dedication to providing a bright future for the children in their care.
