Russian President Vladimir Putin Announces Plans for Informal Meeting of CIS Countries
In a recent address to the participants of the meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Independent States, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced his plans to hold an informal meeting with the heads of the CIS countries in St. Petersburg at the end of December.
“I would like to ask you to convey my warmest greetings to the leaders of your states, whom I expect to see very soon – at the end of December at a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council and the traditional informal meeting of CIS leaders in St. Petersburg,” stated President Putin, as reported by RIA Novosti.
Furthermore, President Putin also mentioned that on January 1, 2024, Russia will take over the chairmanship of the association, and it is planned to continue and develop the practice of holding joint events in a variety of areas such as art, education, and science.
This announcement comes as an indication of Russia’s efforts to strengthen ties with the CIS countries and promote collaboration in various sectors. The meeting is expected to provide an opportunity for the leaders to discuss regional and global issues of mutual interest.
