Warning Issued for Cold and Rainy Weather in 19 Provinces with ‘Yellow Code’
Turkey is currently experiencing a cold weather system that is causing temperatures to drop by 6 to 8 degrees across the country. The northern areas are expected to see temperatures below seasonal norms.
The General Directorate of Meteorology has issued a yellow coded warning for 19 provinces in response to the cold weather system. Snow is expected in the inner, northern, and eastern regions of Turkey starting today.
Provinces such as Amasya, Ardahan, Artvin, Bayburt, and others are expected to experience strong snowfall. The cold weather and rainfall also pose a risk of icing and frost events, particularly in Eastern Anatolia and the inner parts of the Eastern Black Sea.
In the three major cities of Turkey, snow is expected in Istanbul and Ankara, while Izmir will see a drop in temperature with rainfall in the form of rain. The cold and rainy air system is predicted to continue impacting the country until the end of February.
With these weather conditions in mind, it is important for residents to take necessary precautions to stay safe and warm during this cold spell.
