“We Planted Trees Instead of Building a Structure”
The construction of a national garden at Atatürk Airport in Istanbul is underway following a massive rally that took place there on Sunday, attracting 1.7 million people. The Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, Murat Kurum, has responded to criticism of the project, saying that while some had suggested building a new structure, trees were being planted instead. He added that the completed garden would become the green corridor of Istanbul. The first stage of the garden has already been opened to the public.
