Counting and Dumping of Votes to be Open: Turkish Presidential Election Update
As the Turkish presidential election continues to gather pace, citizens are keen to know how the process will work once the voting has closed. According to the latest information, once the voting has concluded at 5:00 pm, the open counting and listing of votes will begin. The number of voter signatures will be checked against the voting envelopes to determine invalid votes, which will be recorded in the minutes. Any excess envelopes will be destroyed by burning after being randomly drawn.
The counting process will begin and will continue without interruption, even if any objections are raised. Observers and registered voters will be able to monitor the counting process, which will be overseen by four committee members. One member will provide the envelops while two will record the votes on the table and one will protect the envelops. Political party observers and registered voters will be allowed to monitor proceedings throughout.
Once the counting and casting process has finished, all relevant documents will be placed in an election bag with the seal of the district election board. The election bag and seal, accompanied by the ballot box committee chairman and at least two members, will be delivered quickly to the chairman of the district election committee. District election boards will assemble the ballot box results minutes with political party representatives and observers overseeing the process.
All minutes will be compiled and submitted to the provincial election board. The board will then provide political parties and independent candidates with a copy of the minutes, and all sealed ballot bags used in the electoral district will be collected at an address determined by the board. The Supreme Election Board will simultaneously publish the vote counts and ballot result minutes recorded in the election information system to the political parties to ensure the transparency of election results.
The YSK will announce the temporary results of the presidential election by 11:59 pm on May 14th.
