White House: US will not unilaterally reduce tariffs on China

The United States Stands Firm on Tariffs Against China
White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt has made it clear that the United States will not be reducing tariffs on products from China unilaterally. In a recent interview with Fox News, she emphasized that any reduction in tariffs will require China to make a deal with the United States and remove trade barriers for American goods.
President Donald Trump recently announced the imposition of tariffs on products from 185 countries and territories, with a temporary suspension of additional import tariffs for some nations for 90 days. During this period, a universal tariff of 10% will be in effect, while tariffs on Chinese products have been raised to 125%. This brings the total tariff on goods from China to 145%, including an extra 20% for alleged deficiencies in addressing fentanyl smuggling.
Leavitt expressed optimism that a deal can be reached with China, but reiterated that any changes to tariff rates will be at the discretion of the president. The United States is focused on achieving fair and reciprocal trade with China, and is committed to maintaining a strong stance on tariffs until a satisfactory agreement is reached.
