Ankara Prosecutor’s Office continues to investigate allegations of “money votes” at CHP Congress
The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office is currently investigating allegations of “money votes” at the 38th Ordinary Congress of the CHP, which took place on November 4-5, 2023. The suspects involved in the investigation are still giving statements to the authorities.
One of the key figures in the investigation is CHP Party Assembly Member Baki Aydöner, who has been accused of distributing tablets to delegates and receiving money from some delegates at a hotel. Aydöner has denied these allegations, stating that his assets are legitimate and were acquired through personal means.
Additionally, former Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu’s consultant and party Assembly member, Ali Haydar Fırat, has also been implicated in the investigation. Fırat defended himself by pointing to his sources of income, including royalties from television broadcasts, a pension from SSI, and his wife’s job as a civil servant.
Another individual named in the investigation is Ozan Işık, who is accused of distributing market cards in exchange for votes from delegates. Işık denied the allegations, explaining that his brother applied for the Istanbul Municipality program online and that he had no influence in the process.
The Prosecutor’s Office also interviewed Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu’s former Special Pen Manager, Şükran Kütükçü, who claimed to have no additional income apart from her official salary. Special Pen Directors Ekrem Imamoglu and Ozgur Ozel, who worked with Kılıçdaroğlu, also denied any wrongdoing.
Furthermore, Istanbul Provincial Chairman Ozgur Celik, who was mentioned as a suspect in the investigation, has provided his statement to the prosecutor’s office in Ankara. The investigation into the alleged “money votes” at the CHP Congress is ongoing, with authorities continuing to gather evidence and testimonies from those involved.
