WHO Turkmenistan conducts ship sanitation inspection course

The World Health Organization Country Office in Turkmenistan, in collaboration with the WHO Regional Office for Europe, recently hosted a training course focused on the sanitary inspection of ships and the issuance of ship sanitary certificates.

The training session brought together participants from various agencies, including the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan, the “Turkmendenizderyayollary” Agency, the State Veterinary Service, the State Quarantine Service, employees of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport, and specialized experts.

This initiative is part of WHO’s broader strategy to enhance Turkmenistan’s national capacity by implementing the One Health Action Framework, aimed at improving the quality of health services in Central Asia.

The training emphasized the crucial role that points of entry (POEs) such as airports, ports, and ground transportation hubs play in preventing, detecting, and responding to public health events that may arise from international travel and trade.

Through such collaborative efforts and capacity-building activities, Turkmenistan is working towards ensuring the health and safety of its population while also contributing to regional health security.
