Woman struck by car while crossing street – Last Minute Turkey News

A woman was hit by a car in Istanbul’s Arnavutköy district while trying to cross the road. The incident happened on Eski Edirne Asfaltı Street when the car with the license plate 34 JJ 9781, driven by Salih Dayı, hit Zeynep Karakaş. The impact was so strong that Karakaş was thrown into the air and dragged for meters. She was rushed to the hospital by medical teams after citizens at the scene provided first aid. Karakaş suffered multiple fractures, but her health is said to be improving.
The accident was recorded by a security camera outside the workplace. İsmail Gözütok, who witnessed the tragedy, said that the scene of the accident was a constant danger zone and accidents happen frequently. He added that dental clinic employees immediately called the ambulance and provided first aid to Karakaş. However, he emphasized that measures must be taken to prevent accidents from happening in the future. “We want an overpass or precautions to be taken here. We witness the same accidents here all the time,” he said.
The incident is another reminder of the importance of road safety and the need for infrastructure improvements in densely populated areas. As cities continue to grow, the number of vehicles on the roads also increases, putting more people at risk of accidents. Authorities must prioritize the safety of citizens by implementing measures to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.
