World Religious Leaders Gather in Astana to Discuss Peaceful Conflict Resolution
Astana recently hosted the 22nd meeting of the Secretariat of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, bringing together religious leaders from across the globe to address pressing issues and promote harmony among different faiths.
The gathering, which saw around 30 religious leaders and heads of international organizations from 20 countries in attendance, focused on ways to tackle conflict, bridge differences, and advance the congress’s mission of fostering peace and understanding.
One of the key themes discussed during the meeting was the importance of peaceful conflict resolution, particularly in regions like the Middle East and Ukraine, where tensions and violence have escalated in recent years.
Maulen Ashimbayev, chairman of the Senate and head of the Secretariat, emphasized the need for diplomacy and peaceful dialogue in addressing global challenges. He called on all parties involved to prioritize political and diplomatic solutions to conflicts, in line with the principles of the UN Charter and international law.
Other religious leaders echoed Ashimbayev’s sentiments, underscoring the value of high moral values and love for humanity in guiding political decisions and fostering interfaith dialogue. They highlighted the role of the Congress in promoting understanding and cooperation among diverse religious communities.
The meeting also saw the appointment of goodwill ambassadors, who will play a crucial role in promoting spiritual diplomacy and advancing the congress’s objectives on the international stage. Additionally, the first forum of young religious leaders was announced, providing a platform for the next generation to engage in discussions and contribute to solving global issues.
