Yandex Go Sets Tax Record by Paying 145 Billion UZS to Uzbekistan in 2024
Ride-hailing Aggregators in Uzbekistan Contribute Billions in Taxes
In 2024, ride-hailing aggregators operating in Uzbekistan, such as Yandex Go, Uklon, and My Taxi, made a significant contribution to the country’s tax revenue. These companies paid a total of 157 billion UZS in taxes, with Yandex Go alone accounting for 145.2 billion UZS.
During a press conference held at the Agency for Information and Mass Communications (AIMC), the Tax Committee revealed that over 500,000 citizens, including more than 4,000 women, had legalized their employment as self-employed individuals through these aggregators.
The First Deputy Chairman of the Tax Committee, Mubin Mirzayev, highlighted that the integration of the information systems of ride-hailing aggregators into the tax database in December 2023 had a positive impact on tax revenues. By January 1, 2025, the number of registered aggregators had reached 155.
Notably, Yandex Go, Uklon, My Taxi, and other platforms facilitated the legalization of nearly 500,000 citizens as self-employed individuals. In 2024, customers received 319 million fiscal receipts totaling 5.9 trillion UZS.
Following the integration, these aggregators collectively contributed 156.8 billion UZS in taxes in 2024, including 66.2 billion UZS in VAT. This marked a significant increase compared to the previous year, where many industry players had paid little to no taxes.
According to the Tax Committee’s data, Yandex Go played a major role in legalizing self-employment, with over 430,000 individuals registering through the platform. The company issued 271.3 million fiscal receipts amounting to 5.2 trillion UZS in 2024.
Yandex Go UB LLC, in particular, paid a substantial amount of taxes, totaling 145.2 billion UZS in 2024, with 64 billion UZS attributed to VAT. Overall, the contribution of ride-hailing aggregators to Uzbekistan’s tax revenue reflects the positive impact of regulating the industry and promoting compliance among operators and users.
