New Arrest in the Newborn Gang Investigation
In the ongoing investigation of the Newborn Gang, a new development has emerged with the arrest of Ali Dirik, the responsible manager of Esenler Güney Hospital. An arrest warrant was issued for Dirik at the last hearing, and he was apprehended by police teams in Fatih.
After being taken into custody, Dirik was brought to Büyükçekmece Courthouse where he faced trial. Following the court proceedings, the responsible manager was arrested and sent to prison.
The judicial panel handling the case made an interim decision on December 5 to arrest 6 more individuals in addition to Ali Dirik.
During his defense as an undetained defendant in the Yenidoğan Gang case on November 28, Ali Dirik provided the following statement: “I work at Southern Hospital and have never heard of the Medisense company before. I don’t know Fırat Sarı either. We were facing difficulties in finding nurses, and Fırat Sarı was recommended through a doctor for consultancy services. Upon discovering medicine boxes, I inquired with the nurses if they had administered the medications, to which they responded negatively. Realizing that the medications were not invoiced to SSI, I decided to discontinue the consulting services. I then rearranged the neonatal intensive care unit and appointed a new responsible individual.”
The Newborn Gang investigation continues to unfold with the arrest of key individuals and further developments expected to occur in the near future.
