Yet Another Resignation Rocks İYİ Party: Parliamentary Seats Reduced to 33
Istanbul Deputy Ahmet Ersagun Yücel has officially announced his resignation from the İYİ Party. In a statement on his social media account, Yücel revealed that he had originally joined the party at the invitation of former İYİ Party Chairwoman Meral Akşener.
Yücel, who played a significant role in the establishment and growth of the party as the Founding Deputy Chairman, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to be involved in politics. He stated, “During the toughest times of the İYİ Party, I wholeheartedly contributed with my family, without expecting anything in return. Although this decision was not an easy one for me, I believe that my unwavering dedication to serving the Turkish nation should continue through other means. I would like to thank Ms. Meral Akşener and İYİ Party Chairman Mr. Müsavat Dervişoğlu for giving me the chance to partake in politics.”
Following Yücel’s resignation, the İYİ Party’s parliamentary seats have decreased to 33, while the number of independent deputies has risen to 8. Yücel’s departure marks a significant change in the political landscape, as the İYİ Party navigates through this transition.
