High-Speed Train Project to Shorten Distance Between Adana and Mersin
The transportation speed is increasing and distances are shortening thanks to high-speed trains. The latest development in this regard is the inclusion of the 68-kilometer old railway line between Adana and Mersin in the High-Speed Train Project. Starting from tomorrow, the old line will no longer be in service.
The 138-year-old railway line is undergoing a transformation as the high-speed train takes center stage for the journey between Adana and Mersin. The 68-kilometer railway, originally built between Adana and Mersin by a London-based French company and put into service in 1886, is now part of the 312-kilometer Gaziantep High-Speed Train line developed by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure. As a result, the old railway line will be out of service for a period of two years.
Field inspections have already been carried out for the project, which aims to reduce the travel time between Mersin and Adana from 1 hour to just 25 minutes, and between Gaziantep from 6 hours and 23 minutes to 2 hours and 15 minutes. In addition, the Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Transportation Department has announced plans to increase the number of trips on bus lines between Mersin-Yenice and Tarsus-Yenice in order to alleviate any inconvenience for citizens.
The implementation of the High-Speed Train Project between Adana and Mersin is expected to not only significantly reduce travel time but also provide a more efficient and comfortable transportation option for passengers. Stay tuned for further updates on this exciting development.
