Young Girl Survives Rock Falling on Head, Thought to Have Died from Fall
An investigation has been launched into the suspicious death of Gülsimay Yılmaz (22), who was believed to have fallen from a height in Butterfly Valley on August 4, 2024.
The Forensic Medicine Institute report, requested as part of the investigation, has been completed. The report revealed that the young girl tragically lost her life in the hospital after being struck by a rock that had detached from the land while she was walking in the Butterfly Valley canyon.
Gülsimay Yılmaz’s older sister, Serenay Ekrem, expressed her devastation at the loss of her sister. Ekrem mentioned that the autopsy report for her brother’s death was only released approximately 5 months later. She also pointed out that despite visitors being charged for entry to Butterfly Valley, no safety measures were in place to prevent accidents.
Ekrem announced that they intend to pursue legal action against those responsible for her sister’s death.
Witnesses who observed Gülsimay Yılmaz motionless on the ground after a fall in Butterfly Valley, located in the Faralya District and inaccessible by land, promptly notified the 112 Emergency Call Center. Yılmaz was rushed to a private hospital but unfortunately succumbed to her injuries.
This tragic incident has raised concerns about safety precautions and measures at popular tourist sites like Butterfly Valley, prompting calls for accountability and justice for Gülsimay Yılmaz.
