Zeekr, Chinese Electric Vehicle Manufacturer, Launches in Uzbekistan

Chinese automaker Geely Automobile Holdings Limited has officially introduced its new premium brand of electric vehicles, Zeekr, to the Uzbekistan market. This marks the second market in Central Asia, following Kazakhstan, where Zeekr has officially launched sales of its electric cars.

According to the company’s press service, Geely has signed an agreement on distribution and after-sales service in Uzbekistan. The Chinese automaker plans to introduce popular models, including the Zeekr 001 electric sports car, to the local market.

In addition to the Zeekr brand, Geely aims to launch sales of its entire model range in Uzbekistan by the end of 2023. This lineup includes popular models such as the Coolray and Tugella crossovers, the Monjaro and Okavango SUVs, the Emgrand sedan, and the Geometry E electric crossover.

Furthermore, there are plans for Geely to potentially start production of electric vehicles in the Tashkent region by 2024. The initial stage will involve building an assembly shop, followed by the organization of production.

Zeekr, established in 2021 as a premium division of Geely Automobile, specializes in the production of electric vehicles. The Zeekr 001 electric car, launched in April of the same year, was the first model introduced by the Chinese company. Both Zeekr and Geely Automobile Holdings Limited are part of the diversified Zhejiang Geely Holding Group.

Overall, Geely’s entry into the Uzbekistan market with its Zeekr brand of electric vehicles signifies a significant step towards promoting sustainable transportation options in the region.
