Bishkek wrestler Zholaman Sharshenbekov wins gold at international tournament
Bishkek – 09 March 2024 – Kyrgyz wrestler Zholaman Sharshenbekov, representing the Kyrgyz school of Greco-Roman wrestling, achieved a significant victory by winning a gold medal at the Yasar Dogu & Vehbi Emre Tournament. The President of the Wrestling Federation of the Kyrgyz Republic, Melis Turganbaev, congratulated Sharshenbekov on his impressive performance.
Competing in the weight category up to 60 kilograms, Sharshenbekov displayed remarkable skill and determination throughout the tournament. He started his journey in the 1/8 finals by defeating his opponent from Kazakhstan with a score of 9:0. In the quarterfinals, he continued his winning streak by overcoming a representative from Turkey with the same score of 9:0.
Moving on to the semifinals, Sharshenbekov faced a wrestler from Uzbekistan and emerged victorious, securing his spot in the final match. In a thrilling showdown, the Kyrgyz wrestler went head-to-head with an athlete from Iran and ultimately claimed the gold medal, adding another achievement to his growing list of successes.
