In a significant development for the Kyrgyz Parliament, deputies have elected Zhyldyz Sadyrbaeva as the new Vice Speaker during a recent session. The decision came after a successful secret ballot, where 76 deputies cast their votes in favor of Sadyrbaeva, while only 2 voted against her.

Zhyldyz Sadyrbaeva, 55, hails from the city of Naryn. Her academic journey began at the St. Petersburg Pavlov Medical Institute, where she graduated in 1993 with a degree in General Medicine. Following her graduation, Sadyrbaeva completed a clinical residency at the Kyrgyz State Medical Academy named after Isa Akhunbaev between 1993 and 1995.

Her professional path has been marked by various roles in the medical and pharmaceutical fields. From 1995 to 1996, she served as an assistant at the Department of Dermatology. In 1997, she established Zhyldyz-Pharm, which was later transformed into Farmamir LLC in 2009. Sadyrbaeva also held the position of director at Elyai LLC from 2003 to 2021, a company engaged in the wholesale trade of pharmaceutical products.

In 2021, she was elected as a deputy of the Zhogorku Kenesh of the VII convocation, representing the Ata Zhurt Kyrgyzstan political party. Outside her professional commitments, Sadyrbaeva is married and has three children.

This election follows the resignation of Jamilya Isaeva, who stepped down from the role of Vice Speaker on April 28.

Zhyldyz Sadyrbaeva’s election marks a new chapter for the Kyrgyz Parliament, and her extensive background in medicine and business might play a vital role in her new position.
