
10 Organized Crime Groups Dismantled: 47 Arrested – Latest News from Turkey

In the past 15 days, Turkish authorities have successfully dismantled 10 separate organized crime groups, according to a statement from Minister of Internal Affairs Ali Yerlikaya.
The operations, known as “Cell,” were carried out by the gendarmerie in various regions across the country. The groups targeted in the operations were led by individuals identified by their initials: E.Ç. in Iğdır, NA in Istanbul, Ş.Y. in Afyonkarahisar, MA in Balıkesir, MK in Şanlıurfa, MB in Yalova, CG in Antalya, MY and MAÇ in Antalya, and MEÖ in Mersin.
A total of 66 suspects were apprehended during the operations, with 47 of them being formally arrested. Minister Yerlikaya emphasized the government’s commitment to combatting organized crime, stating, “We will continue our fight with determination and resolve against criminal organizations that flaunt their criminal activities and believe they are above the law.”
In addition to the arrests, authorities seized 31 unlicensed pistols, 6 unlicensed hunting rifles, 875 materials used for weapon manufacturing, various drugs, cutting and piercing tools, as well as numerous electronic devices such as computers, mobile phones, and bank cards.
The successful operations demonstrate Turkey’s ongoing efforts to crackdown on criminal organizations and maintain law and order in the country.
