149 Applicants for El Umutu Presidential Scholarship
Bishkek – 24.kg news agency reported that at least 149 people have applied for the El Umutu international presidential scholarship through the web portal. The Ministry of Education and Science of Kyrgyzstan stated that out of these applicants, 94 did not meet the requirements, while 55 have submitted a full package of documents.
Registration for the scholarship was open from May 1st to May 30th, with original documents being accepted by the ministry. The El Umutu presidential scholarship was established by President Sadyr Japarov on May 10, 2022, for young Kyrgyzstanis who are pursuing master’s and doctoral programs at foreign universities.
The scholarship program offers financial support, with amounts that can go up to $50,000, for young Kyrgyzstanis who have been accepted into one of the top 100 universities in the world. In 2023, a total of 13 people were awarded the El Umutu scholarship.
It is evident that there is a growing interest in the El Umutu scholarship program, highlighting the ambition and dedication of young Kyrgyzstanis to pursue higher education opportunities abroad.
