222 Arrested in Operation Against PKK Across 36 Provinces
Minister Yerlikaya: 222 Suspects Detained in Counter-Terrorism Operations
Minister Yerlikaya recently took to his social media account to deliver an important message to the nation regarding the ongoing fight against terrorism. He assured the public that no terrorists would be allowed to threaten the peace and security of the nation, emphasizing the relentless efforts of the security forces in neutralizing every last terrorist for the sake of the country’s unity and solidarity.
In a significant development, a total of 222 suspects were apprehended in the “Gurz-8” operations conducted across 36 provinces. These operations were carried out by the TEM branch directorates of the provincial police departments under the coordination of the General Directorate of Security TEM Department and Intelligence Directorate.
It was revealed that the detained suspects were believed to be affiliated with an armed terrorist organization and were planning to join the organization’s rural cadres. They were also found to have previous links to separatist terrorist activities, engaging in propaganda through social media, providing financial support to terrorism, and participating in collaboration and courier activities on behalf of the terrorist organization. Additionally, some of the suspects were identified as being part of the European structure of the separatist terrorist organization, with criminal records and warrants against them.
During the operations, law enforcement officials seized unlicensed pistols, hunting rifles, a large sum of foreign currency and Turkish Lira, as well as a substantial amount of digital materials and organizational documents. Minister Yerlikaya commended the brave police officers who carried out these operations, expressing gratitude for their dedication and service. He also urged for the nation’s prayers and support to be with the law enforcement personnel in their ongoing efforts.
The successful outcome of the “Gurz-8” operations is a testament to the government’s commitment to combating terrorism and ensuring the safety and security of the people.
