25 Civilian Joint Task Force Members Killed in Nigeria Attacks
25 members of the Civilian Joint Task Force have tragically lost their lives in recent attacks in Nigeria. The attacks were carried out by ISWAP, the West African branch of ISIS, and armed gang members in the states of Borno and Sokoto.
Reports indicate that in the Gamboru Ngala region of Borno state, a mine laid by ISWAP exploded as a CJTF vehicle passed by, resulting in the deaths of 11 CJTF members and injuries to 2 others. In Sokoto state, in the Isa region, armed gang members carried out an attack that claimed the lives of 14 CJTF members.
Nigeria has been experiencing a rise in attacks by armed gangs in addition to ongoing threats from terrorist organizations such as Boko Haram and ISWAP. The CJTF was established to provide support to the army in combating these threats within the country.
The loss of these 25 CJTF members serves as a stark reminder of the dangers faced by those working to protect their communities from violence and terrorism. The government and security forces must continue to work diligently to ensure the safety and security of all citizens in Nigeria.
