Israeli Defense Minister Increases Military Presence in Rafah
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has announced plans to deploy more soldiers to the region near Rafah, as the Israeli army intensifies its attack against Hamas. Gallant visited the area yesterday and stated that the attacks will continue with additional soldiers entering the region.
Gallant expressed confidence in the Israeli army’s capabilities, claiming that Hamas is running out of ammunition and is unable to renew itself. He emphasized that the operation against Hamas will intensify, indicating that Hamas is no longer a formidable organization.
On May 6, the Israeli army called for the evacuation of certain neighborhoods in the east of Rafah, where forcibly displaced Palestinians had sought shelter. The following day, a land attack was launched on Rafah, with the announcement that the Palestinian side of the border gate with Egypt had been captured.
The United Nations (UN) reports that approximately 600 thousand people have been forced to flee Rafah due to the ongoing attacks by Israel. The situation in the region remains tense as the conflict between Israel and Hamas shows no signs of abating.
