25 Universities Receive Support in 15 Different Fields

The Higher Education Council (YÖK) in Turkey has announced the implementation of the “Universities Specializing in Priority Fields Project” to support programs that stand out in priority science fields with their publication capacity and broadcast performance. The aim of the project is to promote the role of universities in economic growth, social change, and regional development.

The project will provide financial support to the relevant departments or programs of 25 state and foundation universities in 15 science fields that have been given priority field missions. To determine the priority science and R&D fields to be supported, the Higher Education Council reviewed various reports, including technology roadmaps in priority and key technologies, field-based competence analysis reports of universities, R&D and innovation issues of relevant institutions and organizations, policy documents, and priority sectors, fields and sub-fields.

The amount of financial support will be presented to the universities from the next term with the support of the Presidency Strategy and Budget Department. The project aims to reinforce the university-industry cooperation in the science fields prioritized by YÖK.

This project is a significant step towards realizing the potential of universities in Turkey in advancing economic growth and social change. The YÖK has emphasized the importance of these priority areas and encourages professors and scientists to contribute further to the development of these areas. The “Universities Specializing in Priority Fields Project” will help universities in Turkey promote their research capacities in the priority fields and foster the development of the country’s science and technology sectors.
