38 out of 65 May 1 Istanbul demonstration attackers arrested
Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç has recently made a statement on social media regarding the recent arrests made in Istanbul. The arrests were a part of a judicial investigation initiated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office against individuals who attacked the police during a protest on May 1st, Labor and Solidarity Day.
A total of 65 suspects were detained, with 38 of them being arrested for various charges including “Opposing the Demonstration March Law”, “Making Propaganda for a Terrorist Organization”, and “Resisting a Public Official”. Additionally, a judicial control decision was given for 27 suspects.
Minister Tunç emphasized that events aimed at disrupting the peace of the country and the unity and solidarity of the nation will never achieve their purpose. The government is committed to upholding the rule of law and ensuring the safety and security of its citizens.
The arrests serve as a reminder that individuals who engage in violent and unlawful behavior will be held accountable for their actions. The Minister urged all citizens to act responsibly and in accordance with the law to maintain peace and order in society.
