41 Dead in Bangkok Building Collapse Tragedy

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) and the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DPMM) provided an update on the State Audit Office (SAO) building collapse in Bangkok’s Chatuchak district after a recent earthquake. According to Nation Thailand, a total of 103 individuals have been confirmed as victims of the disaster as of April 14 at 10 am (GMT+7). The death toll currently stands at 41, with 9 injured and 53 still unaccounted for.

Rescue teams expanded their operations overnight to zones B4 and C1 after detecting faint light signals. Despite excavating a 4 meters deep and 5 meters wide area in these zones, no signs of life were detected. Approximately 50% of the debris removal has been completed, with all emergency personnel fully deployed despite the ongoing Songkran holiday.

Heavy machinery is operating at full capacity, with monitoring teams in place across all zones. Water is regularly sprayed to control dust, and manual searches resume whenever machinery halts. The city has also deployed psychologists and interpreters to support both rescue personnel and the families of the victims.

As of 3 pm on April 13, a total of 23,405 individuals have reported damages related to the disaster. The rescue efforts continue with full force as authorities work tirelessly to search for survivors and provide support to those affected by the tragic event.
