The Gaza Strip: Thousands Displaced and in Need of Assistance
The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has recently released a report detailing the dire situation in the Gaza Strip. According to the report, over 100 thousand displaced families in Gaza are in need of winter tents, and approximately 12 million tons of debris created by Israel’s attacks targeting residences in the region need to be cleared.
The report also highlights that more than 650 thousand people in Gaza have no home to return to due to the extensive infrastructure damage and the risks posed by explosive residues. As a result of the Israeli attacks, 1.9 million people have been forcibly displaced in the Gaza Strip, where approximately 2.3 million Palestinians reside.
Many of the displaced Palestinians have sought refuge in the Rafah region, located in the south of Gaza. However, Israel has recently signaled a potential attack in this area, leaving civilians in makeshift tents struggling to survive. Palestinian sources have reported that 70 thousand houses were completely destroyed and 290 thousand houses were partially damaged and deemed unusable due to the Israeli army’s attacks from land, air, and sea.
The situation in the Gaza Strip remains dire, with thousands of displaced families in need of assistance and a significant amount of debris to be cleared. The international community is being urged to provide support and aid to those affected by the ongoing crisis.
