8.85% Increase in Registered Vehicles in Traffic

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) has released the motor land vehicle statistics for the month of September, showing an increase in the number of vehicles registered to traffic compared to the same month last year.

In September, there was a 6.9 percent increase in the number of vehicles registered to traffic, reaching a total of 212,451 vehicles. Additionally, 3,338 vehicles were deregistered from traffic during this period, resulting in a total increase of 209,113 vehicles in traffic.

Of the vehicles registered to traffic in September, motorcycles made up 56.8 percent, followed by automobiles at 29.5 percent, pickup trucks at 7.9 percent, tractors at 2.9 percent, trucks at 1.6 percent, and minibuses, buses, and special purpose vehicles making up the rest.

Compared to the previous month, there was a significant increase in the number of minibuses, tractors, and motorcycles registered to traffic in September. Additionally, there were increases in special purpose vehicles, buses, automobiles, and pickup trucks, with decreases noted in trucks.

Looking at the annual changes, there was an increase in minibuses, motorcycles, buses, special purpose vehicles, tractors, automobiles, and trucks registered to traffic in September, with a decrease in pickup trucks.

Out of all registered vehicles, cars made up 52 percent, followed by motorcycles at 19.6 percent, pickup trucks at 15.2 percent, tractors at 7.3 percent, trucks at 3.2 percent, and minibuses, buses, and special purpose vehicles accounting for the remaining percentage.

In the January-September period, there was a 13.8 percent increase in the number of vehicles registered to traffic, totaling 1,961,456 vehicles. The majority of registered cars during this period were gasoline-powered, followed by hybrid, diesel, electric, and LPG fueled vehicles.

The report also highlighted the most preferred car colors, with grey being the top choice, followed by white, black, blue, red, green, and other colors.
