Adam Sandler and Safdie Brothers’ New Film Hit by Strike

Adam Sandler and the Safdie Brothers are teaming up once again for a new movie, following the success of “Uncut Gems”. However, it seems that the project has been delayed due to various reasons.

In an interview with Collider, Sandler revealed that the upcoming movie, which is his second collaboration with directors Josh and Benny Safdie, is facing scheduling issues. The filming is tied to live baseball games, and the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes have also impacted the production schedule.

Unfortunately, even though the strikes in Hollywood are over and projects are getting back on track, the next MLB season isn’t scheduled to start until the end of March next year. This means that the filming of the new movie will have to wait until the baseball season begins. Sandler mentioned in the interview, “We missed the opportunity for a baseball season due to the strike. Most of the filming would take place during live baseball. So it will take some time. We’re trying to figure everything out right now. I’m not sure when that will happen.”

The project, which is being directed by Josh Safdie and doesn’t have a name yet, is set in the world of high-end sports card collecting in the 1990s. It is also expected to star Ben Affleck, Megan Thee Stallion, Gael Garcia Bernal, and Steve Harvey. This will be Josh Safdie’s second solo directorial film following the duo’s recent split.

Despite the delay, fans of “Uncut Gems” and the work of Sandler and the Safdie Brothers will have to wait patiently for the release of this highly anticipated project.
