ADF Activities Highlighted International Obligations
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov recently held a press conference following the Antalya Diplomacy Forum (ADF) held at the NEST Congress Center in the Belek Tourism Region. Lavrov highlighted the significance of the ADF, describing it as a relatively new political science format initiated by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
In his remarks, Lavrov also touched upon the devastating earthquake that occurred in Turkey last year, expressing solidarity with the victims and emphasizing the need to focus on overcoming its consequences. He commended Russia for being one of the first countries to offer assistance, sending search and rescue teams, construction materials, and humanitarian aid to the affected region.
Reflecting on the success of this year’s ADF, Lavrov noted the participation of over 100 countries, including heads of state and government, and the presence of many foreign ministers. He expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality extended by Turkish colleagues during the forum.
During the discussions at the forum, Lavrov drew attention to the Collective West, highlighting concerns about the disregard for the principles of respect for sovereign equality of states and the United Nations Charter. He cautioned against the West’s attempts to impose its rules on the international community in the current global context.
Looking ahead, Lavrov expressed optimism that the ADF discussions would prove to be fruitful, emphasizing the need for a reevaluation of international obligations and approaches. He cited President Erdoğan’s remarks at the forum, underscoring the importance of reflecting on the current geopolitical landscape.
Overall, Lavrov’s participation in the ADF showcased Russia’s commitment to constructive dialogue and cooperation on international issues, reaffirming the importance of multilateral diplomacy in addressing global challenges.
