Kyrgyzstan to Sign Agreement on State Borders Junction Point with Neighboring Countries

In a joint statement following a meeting in Bishkek, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon announced that Kyrgyzstan will sign an agreement on the state borders junction point with two neighboring countries. The agreement was reached during a meeting with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov on March 13.

“With the signing of the agreement on the Tajik-Kyrgyz border today, the respected Sadyr Nurgozhoevich and I agreed to soon conclude an agreement between the Republic of Tajikistan, the Kyrgyz Republic, and the Republic of Uzbekistan on the state borders junction point,” Emomali Rahmon stated.

The official signing of this document is scheduled to take place on March 31 in the city of Khujand.

Earlier discussions between Sadyr Japarov and Emomali Rahmon indicated that the heads of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan will participate in a joint celebration of Nooruz in Khujand on March 31.

In February, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, Edil Baisalov, had reported that the first-ever trilateral summit involving the Presidents of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan would be held in Khujand on March 31. The summit aims to address key issues of cooperation focused on ensuring security, stability, and prosperity in Central Asia.

Overall, this agreement marks an important step towards strengthening ties and cooperation between these neighboring countries in the region.
