Ahlat’s “Bird Sanctuary” Covered in Ice

The Governor Uğur Boran Bird Sanctuary in Ahlat district of Bitlis has turned into a winter wonderland. Following recent rains, the cold weather has caused most of the surface of the wetland to freeze, creating a stunning sight for visitors and nature lovers.

Located in the Yamlar locality, the wetland is home to many bird species, making it an important area for migratory birds. Despite the freezing temperatures, some birds have still chosen to stay in the non-freezing parts of the lake, adding to the natural beauty of the sanctuary.

Ahmet Yamlı, a nature lover who visited the area, expressed his admiration for the stunning scenery created by the snowfall. He remarked, “I came here to see these beautiful images and take photographs. With the snowfall, very beautiful images were created.”

The wetland, now surrounded by a white cover, was captured by a drone, highlighting the breathtaking views from above. Despite the cold weather, visitors and birdwatchers are drawn to the sanctuary to witness the unique and enchanting sights created by nature’s winter magic.
