Former AK Party Deputy Ahmet İyimaya Passes Away
Former AK Party Deputy Ahmet İyimaya has passed away in Ankara. The news of his death has left many saddened, as he was a respected member of the Turkish political community.
Ahmet İyimaya’s funeral will be held in Gölbaşı Cemetery after the afternoon prayer at Kocatepe Mosque tomorrow. Born in Amasya on November 22, 1950, İyimaya was a distinguished scholar who graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Law with top honors. He was a dedicated public servant who was married and had three children.
Throughout his political career, İyimaya was elected as the Amasya MP from the True Path Party in the 20th and 21st terms, and as the Ankara MP from the AK Party in the 23rd, 24th, 25th, and 26th terms. He also served as the Chairman of the Justice Commission in the 23rd and 24th terms, as well as a member of the Constitutional Reconciliation Commission.
In light of his passing, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Numan Kurtulmuş, expressed his condolences on social media. Kurtulmuş stated, “I learned with sorrow the death of our brother Ahmet İyimaya, one of the valuable lawyers of our country. May God have mercy on our esteemed elder, and I offer my condolences to his family and relatives. May he rest in peace.”
