Akylbek Japarov Engages with Financial Institutions in Washington
Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Akylbek Japarov, recently held important meetings with key financial institutions in Washington, USA. The purpose of these meetings was to discuss bilateral cooperation and explore opportunities for collaboration on various projects aimed at advancing the development of Kyrgyzstan.
Among the notable figures that Akylbek Japarov met with was the President of the Asian Development Bank, Masatsugu Asakawa. During their meeting, they discussed the government’s commitment to implementing reforms that focus on improving public finance, developing the private sector, and combating corruption. Japarov expressed confidence that continued dialogue and cooperation with ADB will help the country achieve its strategic goals.
The discussion also touched upon the status and prospects of cooperation on large-scale infrastructure projects, including the construction of the Kambarata Hydropower Plant, irrigation projects, and initiatives in healthcare and education.
In addition to the meeting with ADB, Japarov also met with the President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, Jin Liqun, to further discuss ongoing reforms and the positive economic indicators that Kyrgyzstan has achieved through effective fiscalization and economic policies.
Furthermore, the Chairman met with the Acting Managing Director of the European Investment Bank, Markus Berndt, emphasizing the interest in cooperation in the field of clean energy. With only a small percentage of its hydropower potential currently utilized, Kyrgyzstan is eager to explore energy projects, such as the construction of the Kambarata HPP 1, to meet its energy needs and contribute to sustainable development.
Lastly, the Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, Bakyt Torobaev, met with Hela Cheikhrouhou, Vice President of the International Finance Corporation, to discuss potential collaborations in the region.
