Ala Kiyiz Exhibition Debuts at National Fine Arts Museum
The Gapar Aitiev National Fine Arts Museum in Bishkek is set to host an exhibition titled “Warmth through generations, ala kiyiz – traditional felt carpet” in an effort to promote traditional Kyrgyz culture.
The exhibition will showcase a variety of items such as illustrations, art panels, ceramic interior pieces, clothing collections, and paintings all depicting the ala kiyiz. Additionally, there will be one ala kiyiz displayed as a single item uniting all participants of the project.
According to museum staff, the main goal of the exhibition is to engage young professionals and encourage them to incorporate elements of traditional Kyrgyz culture in their work.
The exhibition is scheduled to open on August 20 and will run until September 1, providing visitors with an opportunity to appreciate the beauty and craftsmanship of the traditional felt carpet.
