Alaykoy’s “Write Your Own Story First” Project Launches – BRTK
The “Write Your Own Story first” project, organized by the Turkish Cypriot Entrepreneur Women’s Association and the Turkish Cypriot Pediatrics Institution in collaboration with the Gönyeli-Alayköy Municipality, took place in Alayköy Sam yesterday evening.
This project, led by specialist doctors, nurses, and academics, was designed for families and young people living in the Alayköy region and was conducted in two phases.
The first phase of the project, scheduled for five weeks with weekly sessions for families, began with a presentation by Dr. Elanur Korkmaz. The Presidents of GİKAD, Dr. İçim Çağıner Kavuklu, and KTPK, Dr. At Erenel, introduced the “Write Your Own Story first” initiative and assessed the needs of families in the region.
The project aims to raise awareness among families and young people about safe communication, the characteristics of adolescence, gender awareness, sexual and reproductive health, and to enhance problem-solving and health literacy skills.
During the first session, Dr. Ayşe Erenel discussed “Physical Changes in Adolescence”, Dr. Ayşe Zeki covered “Emotional Changes and Behavior Problems in Adolescence”, and Dr. Berna Arifoğlu provided information on “family dynamics and communication within the family”.
Experts also invited residents of the region to participate in the trainings held every Friday at 7:00 pm at the Alayköy Municipality Sam. The second phase of the project, focusing on young people, is set to begin in May.
Overall, the “Write Your Own Story first” project is a valuable initiative to educate and empower families and young individuals in the Alayköy region on various important topics related to health and well-being.
