Alibaba Unveils New Family of AI Models Qwen2.5-VL
On January 28, 2025, Chinese tech giant Alibaba introduced its latest innovation in artificial intelligence with the release of the Qwen2.5-VL model. This new family of AI models is designed to interact with software on personal computers and mobile devices, showcasing its capabilities in various tasks.
In a demonstration video, the Qwen2.5-VL model was shown successfully launching the Booking.com app on an Android platform and booking a flight ticket. It also demonstrated the ability to switch tabs in a web browser, highlighting its versatility and functionality.
Developers behind the Qwen2.5-VL model claim that it surpasses other well-known models like OpenAI’s GPT-4 and Anthropic’s Claude 3.5 Sonnet. The model is capable of analyzing charts and graphs, extracting data from accounting documents, reviewing hours of video content, and even recognizing fragments of films and TV shows.
