All Foreign Cars Now Subject to Temporary Import Fee
The Innovation in Uzbekistan: A Single Fee for Temporary Import of Cars
A recent joint resolution by the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Uzbekistan has brought about a significant change in the procedure for calculating the fee for the temporary import of cars across the customs border. This new resolution aims to simplify the process and make it more transparent for car owners.
Previously, car owners had to pay a fee of 0.7% of the BCA (base calculation amount) for each horsepower of their vehicle for every day the export period was exceeded. However, the new innovation introduces a single fee for all cars, regardless of their engine power.
Under the new rules, after the expiration of the full exemption from customs duties and taxes, temporary import of foreign cars for a period exceeding 90 days during the year is possible. Car owners will now need to pay a fee of 1 BCA for each day the export period is exceeded.
This change is expected to streamline the process and make it more cost-effective for car owners. The document outlining the new rules came into force on May 2, 2024.
Overall, the introduction of a single fee for all cars is a positive step towards simplifying the process of temporary import of cars in Uzbekistan and providing a fair and transparent system for car owners.
