Anticipated power outages in two districts of Tashkent

Work on modernizing and updating networks in the capital of Uzbekistan continues as part of an ongoing effort to improve the electricity infrastructure. According to a report from Tashkent city electricity grids, power supply will be temporarily suspended in certain parts of two districts on May 1.

In the Bektemir district, residents in parts of the “Iyk-ota” and “Gulbog” mahallas can expect a disruption from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Meanwhile, in the Uchtepa district, residents in neighborhoods such as “Beshkayragach”, “Kurkamabad”, and others will face power outages from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The modernization efforts in the capital began in the summer of 2023, with the aim of improving the efficiency and reliability of the electrical networks. Last year, there were instances of rolling blackouts in several districts, prompting President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to declare an emergency mode of operation for the energy sector.

In response to the challenges faced, the President instructed officials to develop a program for upgrading power lines and transformers by the end of 2026. The goal is to reduce electricity losses in the networks by 1.5 times by that time.

As work on modernizing the networks continues, residents in certain parts of Tashkent may experience temporary disruptions in power supply. It is recommended to make necessary arrangements and preparations to minimize inconvenience during these scheduled outages.
