Turkmenistan Takes Steps to Develop Youth Policy in Cooperation with UN

At a recent government meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, presented new initiatives to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov aimed at further developing youth policy in cooperation with the United Nations.

One of the primary objectives of the state strategy is to actively engage young people in social and political life, provide them with high-quality education, ensure comprehensive development, and expand international cooperation in this area.

In line with previously adopted government documents and initiatives, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan has prepared a number of proposals in collaboration with the UN, including:

– The participation of a Turkmen delegation in the Youth Forum of the UN Economic and Social Council scheduled for April 15-17 in New York.
– The organization of the second meeting of the Central Asian Youth Dialogue, initiated by Turkmenistan, on April 16 as part of ECOSOC.
– A seminar for young diplomats and civil servants of Central Asia to be held in Turkmenistan in May with the support of the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office, aimed at enhancing cooperation among young professionals in the region and improving their professional skills.
– The development and implementation of a three-year program titled “Youth, Peace and Security” in partnership with UN entities to support young Turkmen citizens and their involvement in international and regional initiatives.
– The establishment of Educational and Information Centers at regional departments of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Turkmenistan in collaboration with UNDP. These centers will serve as platforms for organizing educational seminars using modern IT technologies.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov has endorsed these proposed initiatives and instructed for the continued active work on implementing youth policy in close cooperation with the UN.

This partnership between Turkmenistan and the United Nations underscores the commitment to empowering and supporting the youth of the country in various spheres of their lives.
