
Arkadag Gears Up for First ECO Ministerial Forum on Sustainable Development

The city of Arkadag in Turkmenistan is gearing up to host an important international event – the First Ministerial Forum on Sustainable Development of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO). This forum, scheduled to take place in April of this year, was discussed during a government meeting where a report was presented to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Khodjamyrat Geldimyradov, highlighted the high level of interest in the upcoming forum. The event is expected to be attended by heads and representatives of government agencies from ECO member states, international organizations, diplomatic missions in Turkmenistan, and officials from various ministries and industry departments in the country.
The primary objective of the First ECO Ministerial Forum is to enhance partnership and collaboration in implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development within the ECO region. Participants will focus on finding solutions to the challenges outlined by the Sustainable Development Goals, tailored to the specific needs of ECO member countries. The forum aims to conclude with a Final Document outlining future areas of cooperation.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov underscored Turkmenistan’s commitment to strengthening ties with the ECO and participating in initiatives that promote regional cooperation. He instructed the Deputy Prime Minister to ensure the successful preparation and execution of the First ECO Ministerial Forum in Arkadag, emphasizing the significance of the event for Turkmenistan.
The hosting of this inaugural forum, a first in the history of the ECO and taking place in the contemporary city of Arkadag, demonstrates Turkmenistan’s proactive stance on sustainable development issues and its willingness to facilitate constructive regional dialogue for the collective benefit of all involved.
