Armenian Foreign Minister willing to sign agreement with Azerbaijan at border or third country

Armenia Ready to Sign Peace Agreement with Azerbaijan, Says Foreign Minister

Armenia has expressed its willingness to sign a peace agreement with Azerbaijan, either at the Armenia-Azerbaijan border or in a mutually agreed third country, according to Ararat Mirzoyan, the Armenian Foreign Minister. In an interview with Türkiye’s NTV TV, Mirzoyan stated that consultations could start immediately to determine the place, time, and exact date for signing the agreement. He mentioned that the signing could take place at the Armenia-Azerbaijan border or any third country acceptable to both Yerevan and Baku.

On March 13, Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that negotiations on a peace agreement with Armenia had been successfully completed. The statement highlighted that discussions on the Draft Agreement for Peace and Interstate Relations between the two countries have come to an end.

Azerbaijan has consistently emphasized two key conditions for signing the peace agreement: Armenia must remove any constitutional claims challenging Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and Armenia should support the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group and related structures.

This development marks a potential step towards resolving the lasting conflicts between Armenia and Azerbaijan and achieving peace in the region. Both parties seem motivated to engage in discussions and find common ground to bring an end to the long-standing animosity.
