Ashgabat to Host 7th Central Asian Climate Change Conference
The 7th Central Asian Conference on Climate Change (CACCC-2025) is set to take place from May 13 to 15, 2025, in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. The conference, organized by the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC) in collaboration with the Government of Turkmenistan, has garnered support from various organizations including the World Bank project "Resilient Landscape Restoration Project in Tajikistan" (RESILAND Tajikistan), the Central Asia Water and Energy Program (CAWEP), and the Regional Programme "Climate Risk Management in Central Asia" of the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).
The central theme of the conference revolves around the discussion of climate change issues in the region under the title "Achieving the Global Goal on Climate Finance through Regional and National Actions in Central Asia". The aim is to emphasize the importance of translating financial commitments made at the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Baku into tangible actions. Furthermore, there will be a focus on bolstering regional collaboration to enhance climate resilience.
Key points of discussion at the conference will include the progress made by Central Asian countries in mitigating climate change, the development of the third version of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs 3.0), and strategies for attracting and efficiently managing climate finance. The conference is anticipated to serve as a platform for the exchange of experiences and innovative solutions in the realm of climate action, aiding regional countries in adapting to climate challenges and advancing sustainable development.
