Asian Weightlifting Federation Supports Athletes

The Asian Weightlifting Federation and Chinese equipment manufacturer ZKC have reached a record-breaking commercial agreement. The deal, worth $500,000, is the largest sponsorship agreement in the federation’s history and will be used to support athletes in Asia. The partnership aims to change the culture of weightlifting in the region by improving infrastructure for athletes, such as providing appropriate training rooms, equipment, saunas, clean bathrooms, and changing facilities. ZKC will provide $105,000 worth of equipment and $20,000 in cash within four years. The Chinese manufacturer’s equipment will be used in all AWF competitions. Before deciding on recipient countries, AWF will create a comprehensive database detailing the number and level of athletes, coaches, and training facilities, as well as existing or potential government support. To ensure proper use of the support, the Secretary General will personally visit the countries. Additionally, the Chinese Weightlifting Association will provide 40 free places in a training camp for Asian Games preparation in Hangzhou.
