Azerbaijan Reports Electricity Generation Figures for January 2025

According to operational data, Azerbaijan’s electricity generation in January 2025 reached 2,493.4 million kWh, as announced by Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov. The country reported electricity exports of 157.4 million kWh during the same period, while imports stood at 11.2 million kWh.

Minister Shahbazov highlighted that compared to the previous year, electricity generation from renewable energy sources, including hydropower plants, increased by 96.4 million kWh to a total of 268.5 million kWh. In January 2025, hydroelectric power plants (HPPs) contributed 218.3 million kWh to Azerbaijan’s total electricity generation, while wind power plants (WPPs) accounted for 2.9 million kWh, solar power plants (SPPs) for 26.4 million kWh, and solid household waste plants for 20.9 million kWh.

These figures demonstrate the country’s continued efforts to diversify its energy sources and increase the share of renewable energy in its overall electricity generation.
