Barriers Prevented Fatal Fall: 2 Injured from 70-Meter Cliff
A Car Crash in Büğdüz Village Saves Lives
Late at night, a car driven by Osman K. attempted to turn at an intersection downhill from the Büğdüz village road towards Burdur. However, the car failed to make the turn and crashed directly into the barriers, leaving it suspended in a precarious position.
Witnesses of the accident quickly reported the incident to the 112 Emergency Call Center, prompting the dispatch of fire brigade, health, and police teams to the scene. Driver Osman K. and passenger Ebru K. were rescued from the vehicle by firefighters and received immediate medical attention before being transported to Burdur State Hospital.
The fortunate outcome of the accident was that the car got stuck in the barrier, preventing it from plummeting into the approximately 70-meter cliff below. This saved the occupants from a potentially fatal fall.
It is worth noting that in previous years, two trucks attempting to navigate the same intersection from the Büğdüz ramp ended up crashing through the barriers and falling off the cliff. Tragically, three individuals lost their lives in those accidents.
The recent incident serves as a reminder of the dangers posed by this particular intersection and the importance of cautious driving at all times. It also highlights the swift response and professionalism of the emergency teams involved in the rescue operation.
